About

I’m John Grand, a DJ, producer, vocalist, and sound designer based in Los Angeles. For the past 20 years, I’ve been creating and shaping music in different forms — from performing as a progressive house and trance artist, to fronting my synth-pop band, The New Division, to building sounds and tools used by producers all over the world.
As John Grand, my music has been supported by artists like Above & Beyond, Armin van Buuren, Cosmic Gate, and Markus Schulz, with releases on Enhanced Music, Euphonic, and Elliptical Sun. My tracks have been featured on A State of Trance and Group Therapy, and I’ve always aimed to create records that connect both emotionally and on the dancefloor.
I’m also the lead singer and producer behind The New Division, a project I started in 2007 that blends new wave, synth-pop, and cinematic atmospheres. Over the years, the band has built a loyal global following and continues to be a big part of who I am as an artist.
Outside of releasing and performing, I’ve spent the last two decades working as a sound designer and product leader. Currently, I work at Splice, where I help bridge content, product, and machine learning. Before that, I was a Product Manager at Sample Magic, curating and developing packs and tools that shaped how producers work. Across my career, I’ve created over 120 sample packs and preset collections for companies like Roland, Arturia, Korg, Elektron, Ableton, Apple, and Logic.
At the end of the day, everything I do — whether it’s producing, singing, DJing, or designing sounds — comes down to one thing: creating tools and music that inspire people and move them.
